An XKCD cartoon takes counterfactuals seriously.

I included this and another on my Phil 721 home page. Fundamental laws (e.g. ideal gas law) support counterfactuals. Accidental generalizations (e.g. "All natural diamonds are less than 500kg") don't.

If this sentence were a fundamental law, it would support counterfactuals.
