Here is what I know of the Twardy family tree. Most of this comes from Paul Walter (a letter on 29 July 2003). On Feb. 11, 1999, Pam Twardy from the Virginia clan sent me info about descendants of Samuel Twardy. We did not know how Samuel fit in. However, Paul Walter says Catherine Twardy had a brother, Samuel. So I have put them down as descendants of Samuel, on Catherine's side rather than Pawel's.
Paul writes: "The entire Twardy comes from Dlugie, near Zarszyn in Southeastern Poland. There are still relatives over there from the Bielen side. I think that all the Twardys have emigrated to America but I could be wrong here."

Paul also writes: "If you are interested in how the Czarneckis come in, Gladys Czarnecki was the daughter of Catherine Bielen and Henry Czarnecki. I believe that Catherine Bielen was the sister of Marianna but she could have been a niece. Everyone referred to her as aunt Catherine."
In another email: "Paul (Pawell) Twardy arrived at the port of New York on May 1, 1900 on the Friedrich der Grosse [Frederick the Great] sailing from Bremen, Germany on 21 April, 1900. He was 18 years old at hte time. I have a copy of the ship manifest and a picture of the ship."
