There are two texts and one reading packet for the course. The texts are Arthur Koestler's The Act of Creation from which we will read the second section, and Margaret Boden's 1990, The Creative Mind. The books are about $15 apiece. Both are on reserve at the main library. Note: there are only 23 copies of Boden's book (about 11 copies each at TIS and the IMU bookstore), so there is a chance you may have to use the library copy.
There is also the inevitable readings packet, available at Collegiate Copy on Third Street just West of Jordan Ave. The packet is $18.76 unbound. I recommend getting it 3-hole punched and putting it in a looseleaf binder. For the really enthusiastic, have them punch 19 sheets of colored paper and use them to separate the readings. Or not.
You will also need to purchase assorted materials for building a telephone transmitter. As you will work in groups these should only cost $5 - $10 per person, and in any case not exceed about $15. Consider it another textbook expense (reading the book of nature and all that...)
Last, you should have a suitable idea journal of your own liking. This can be a bound composition book, a day minder, a looseleaf binder, or anything else you can use to record ideas as you have them.
Other material such as the Bell notebooks are found on the web; you are expected to read them as well!
