I begged my husband to buy me a Roomba. This little robotic vacuum would be my cleaning companion. I soon realized that the robotic vacuum was not all it cracked up to be. Don’t get me wrong, I like what it does, I just think it could be better. Here are a few things I would change if I were to design my own robotic vacuum.
The first thing I would change would be the size. My design would be larger[crt2] . The larger size would allow for a bigger collection compartment. Currently, the collection bin is small and fills up after one sweep of a large room. At this point it is no longer picking up, but running around aimlessly. This leads to my next design change.
Right now, the Roomba does not know when it is full. A sensor that can tell the vacuum when it is full would be nice. When the sensor senses that it is full the vacuum would stop and beep and let you know that the bin needs to be emptied. This would be useful so the vacuum does not waste battery power wandering around aimlessly.
This product lacks a certain amount of attractiveness. Currently the Roomba comes in white, grey, black, and red. A wider range of colors would appeal to individuals who are more attracted to appearance.
After research[crt3] , my concerns are the same as many other Roomba owners. My personal design would be the same for the general public.
